Floyd Jr Visit - 8-29 and 8-30-07

Posted in Floyd & Marilyn at 7:23 am by Floyd Rosson Jr.

I have been up visiting with both Dad and Marilyn the last couple of days. Not a lot to report on either of them. Each seem to be stable and Dad had a good day yesterday. He seemed a little delirious. I can only assume this is from meds and lack of sleep. Overall he is in pretty good spirits but certainly anxious to get 0ut of the confines of the hospital. His CICU room is extremely small. The medications seems to have reduced the fluids around Marilyn’s lungs and they will not be doing the procedure to remove any fluids from around her lungs. Dad’s visiting hours are somewhat limited while he is in CICU (Cardiac Intensive Care Unit). They will not even allow me to stay in his room during shift changes which are basically from 6:00am to 8:00am and again at 6:00pm till 8:00pm. Marilyn’s visitation hours are open.

Floyd Jr Visit - 8-28-07

Posted in Floyd & Marilyn at 8:48 am by Floyd Rosson Jr.

I arrived at the hospital yesterday afternoon. My first visit was with Dad in the CICU unit. He seemed to be in pretty good spirits. He is unable to communicate so our conversation was all one sided with some brief nods from him. He is doing better than he was the last few days but certainly has a long way to go before he is out of hot water. I then went over and visited Marilyn’s and found she had two cousins here from Missouri and
Iowa (I think). They had been with her most of the day and we visited for a while. I spent some time being sure Marilyn knew I was present and I communicated to her I was going to be here for the next week to help see her through this. She has a large neck brace on which is pushing her head back and limiting her movement to virtually none. Marilyn seemed very depressed, distant, and just not happy. Certainly understandable based on her present condition. I did speak briefly with the social worker regarding Marilyn’s progress and when she will be moving. The process has started and we expect sometime next week Marilyn will be moving to her more permanent long term care facility. Her file has been sent to Southtown Nursing and Ventilator Care in
Bixby, OK for evaluation. Due to the proximity to
Tulsa we are hoping she is accepted there and the move can take place next week. I will be visiting today and updating the blog on a regular basis while I am here.

Floyd & Marilyn Update

Posted in Floyd & Marilyn at 10:34 am by Ron Rosson

Floyd is a little better this a.m.  His temperature is under control and he is resting better.  They have located a blood clot in his left arm and are addressing this issue.  He is in “Isolation” and a gown and gloves should be worn while in his room.

Hopefully, today Marilyn will agree to the needed medical procedures she has been refusing.

Al is in town, with Floyd Jr. arriving today.  Marilyns sister Chris is there as are a cousin.  They leave tomorrow.

We do not know what floor he will be on, but will post as soon as we do.

Marilyn still off and on concerning needed medical procedures.Al is presently in town, Floyd Jr. arrives tomorrow.

Floyd & Marilyn Updates

Posted in Floyd & Marilyn at 3:44 pm by Ron Rosson

As both Floyd & Marilyn are now out of ICU and into rehabilitation, Al, Floyd Jr. and I will only be posting updates as condition(s) warrant.  We believe that those who are there and visiting with them can better report overall attitude, response, alertness and condition (see Chris Roberts posts below).  We will of course relate any changes or any scheduled procedures.  We encourage those visiting to post their comments on this page for all of us to share.  Floyd Jr. will be in town on Tuesday and he will be followed by Al in a week.  They will be posting their impressions and Doctors reports.  They have an extensive checklist of items to be taken care of in Floyd & Marilyns behalf and will be very busy.

We thank each of you from the bottom of our hearts for your continued support, concern and prayers.

Marilyn seemed better today.  Her sister Chris was there when I arrived.  We did get some smiles today.  The Dr. came in to talk to her and she looked at him and listened to what he was saying.  He told her that he was going to put her on some antibotics as her white blood count was not good.   He made mention of her not wanting the lung procedure done and I asked Marilyn if she would let them do that and she shook her head yes.  Dr. said that he could not do that today.

Floyd was watching TV, westerns his favorite.  He needed a swab for his mouth and got him one.  He still is not able to have ice.  He indicated that he was hurting and the nurse came and gave him something for pain.

Took a picture of Floyd with my cell phone and took it over to show Marilyn, she smiled.

Things did seem a little better today.

Chris Roberts Visit 8-24-07

Posted in Floyd & Marilyn at 9:29 pm by Chris Roberts

Tonight when I visited Marilyn I said Hi it’s Chris and she mouthed Hi Chris and opened her eyes for a brief time.  I asked her if she had the procedure to remove the fluid of her lungs and she shook her head yes.  The nurse was in the room and she shook her head no.  I talked to the nurse outside the room and she said that Marilyn did not want to have it done.  The television was on and I asked Marilyn if she wanted to see some of the Jenks Trojan game and she shook her head NO. I said Marilyn it’s the Trojans and she shook her head NO.  This in it self tells how depressed she is.

Floyd was alert and watching television, he was smiling and seemed up beat.  Told him that Marilyn was resting and he nodded and smiled.  Sat with him for a while and watched some of the high school football games.

On my way out went back to Marilyn’s room told her that Floyd was looking good and was watching television.  Marilyn nodded her head yes and I told her that I would see her tomorrow and she nodded yes.
