Floyd & Marilyn Update

Posted in Uncategorized at 5:40 pm by Ron Rosson

Floyds Nurse today was Karla.  She said Floyd was doing “pretty good”.  His vital signs remain stable and when not medicated he is alert and responsive.  Not so much pain today and he did set up twice for about and hour each.  Lungs infection/congestion still a concern.  He has no procedures nor tests scheduled at this time other than his daily chest x-ray and lab work.  His mental attitude is positive and he watches some T.V.

Mrilyns Nurse today was Karen.  Karen said Marilyn had a bath today and importantly two good bowl movements.  She was a little nausiated and had some pain in her shoulder.  She was given pain and nausia medication.  Dr. said the nausia could be from her physical therapy and all the moving about.  She did not do any “weaning” exercises today, but more are scheduled for tomorrow.  Her mental attitude appears to be about what one would expect.  She did smile several times.  Did not indicate sensitivity on her left side.  She had one visitation today (a man and women).  Nurse said she wishes the man was here all the time as he was excellent at communicating with the “board”.

Thanks to all for their support during this critical time in the lives of Floyd & Marilyn.

Chris Roberts Visit - 8-14-07

Went up to see Floyd and Marilyn this evening.  Floyd was sitting up and watching TV.  He seemed in good spirits and smiled a lot. His hands were untied and he was eager to show me that. He asked me “what time was it”  I asked him if he could see the clock and he shook his head no, I asked him if he wanted his glasses on and he shook his head yes.  He was smiling when I left. Told nurse that he had his glasses on before I left.

Marilyn seemed in better spirits tonight.  Ironically when I went in the first thing she asked was “what time is it” Laughed and told her that was what Floyd asked me.  Told her that Floyd looked much better and she smiled.

Noticed that her window sills were all cleared off and all her personal items were in the closet.  Hospital wants to keep the window sills kept cleared.

All in all they both seemed better this evening.  I know they have a LONG road ahead of them.

Floyd & Marilyn Update

Floyds Nurse today was Bret.  Floyd’s vital signs are good and he is resting.   He did have to have Ativin for pain and anxiety.  His heart rate has been stable for the last few days.  They are monitoring/testing  for heart problems.  The good news is that the fluid draining from his left side has subsided to the point that all tubes, etc. have been removed.  They now have the site covered with gauze.  He sat up for an hour, but still has pain in the abdominal area.  However, his lungs are still showing infection/ congestion and he only maintained  about twenty minutes on his “weaning” from ventilation.  He is alert and communicative (not verbally) while not medicated.  He is frustrated and anxious.  Still very ill, with infection and strength of heart remaining the primary concern.  There are no procedures or tests other than lung cultures and x-rays presently scheduled.

Marilyns Nurse today was Crystal.  Marilyn is “not too bad” today.  She did have to have medication for pain three times during the last night and morning.  Her vital signs are good and she sat up for about an hour.  Lungs are still congested and she has had them surgically drained.  Physical therapy is leaving her in pain and very tired.  She is showing signs of some feeling in her left side and involuntary movement of her right arm (staff said do not read anything into the involuntary movement of the right arm).  Her other injuries are healing.  She is alert and in reasonable spirits, but does get depressed and asks frequently about her family.  There are presently no procedures are tests scheduled.

Both are receiving excellent care, but we ask that any visitors be alert for overall condition and to be aware of  the instructions for staff on the “chalk board” above their beds.  Sometimes all of the many medical technicians required for their care do not see these instructions through all the medical equipment attached to them and their beds.

Thank you for your concern and support.

Dad & Marilyn seem to be in good spirits… Dad is having a little pain and the doctor on  duty was prescribing a muscle relaxer to help. Marilyn is still retaining a little fluid in her lungs and they are running more tests to see if they will need to do a manual extraction procedure. Overall they appear to be on the right road little by little… BTGOG

Thanks again for all your prayers and support!

Dad is alert and very much aware of his surroundings seems to be in good spirits.

Marilyn is doing great considering and the doctor did not have to do the lung moisture removal procedure as her lungs are starting to remove the mixture on thier own. She is in good spirits and seems to be laughing and feeling good overall considering.

Seems they are both improving little by little…BTGOG

Dad and Marilyn both had very good days today!

Dad had a blood-clot filter added today and the procedure went well. He is very alert and still doing much better than a few days before. All vitals appear to be stable…

Marilyn’s attitude seems to be good and she set up in her therapy chair today for about an hour and a half! Also, she had a full bath and was resting nicely this evening.  The doctor decided to wait until tomorrow morning to perform the liquid extraction on her her lungs…

Thanks again for all your continued support and prayers!

Great News…

Dad & Marilyn both had a great day today…

Dad was alert and had a lot more color and was able to communicate…all vitals are stable!

Marilyn was in very good spirits and not much pain. Her therapy for the day went well. They received the results back from her CT scan and there is liquid in her lungs that needs to be removed. That is to be done early in the morning and she should be in even less pain and should be able to breath much better once completed.
