Marilyn still had the collar on when I went to visit her today, I asked her if they had talked to her about the c-scan and she nodded no, so I don’t know if she will be getting it off or not. She wanted her glasses and I went by the house and got them for her, she asked that I put them on. She seemed really sad today and more withdrawn. She didn’t want to talk much, her TV was on but you couldn’t hear it and I asked her if she wanted the sound up and she nodded no.
Floyd was sitting in the chair when I visited with him, he was getting ready to watch the OU game. He had his voice box in and was chatting away. He was in good spirits and he said that he felt good. He mentioned that a Social Worker came to visit him very late last night and was asking him some questions, that puzzeled him a little that a SW would come by so late, around 11.00pm. Told him to find out from his nurse any questions he had concerning her, he said that he would.

Marilyn is still in ICU and seem a little better not nearly as confused as she was in the nursing home. She seems to be comfortable. She had requested for the brace on her neck and head to be removed and they were taking her down for a c-scan this evening to check her neck out to see if that is possible. I hope that it works out for her that they can take it of. Marilyn’s sister Chris is back in town and Marilyn seemed pleased about that.
Floyd went up to see Marilyn yesterday and he said that he was so glad that he did. He apperantly had a rough night last night and they ran some tests on him and they all came back negative. He was upbeat this evening and had his voice box in. He was saying that he really wants to get some strength in his legs so that perhaps he can use a walker again. He said that he does good for a while and then has a slump back and he wants to get out of the hospital.

Yesterday Marilyn was refusing treatment. She kept telling everyone to go away. I met with Dr. Ali, her sisters Dee, Chris and nurse Mike. Marilyn indicated that she does not want any more treatment. Dr. Ali said that the next step would be to bring in a physiologist to do a further evaluation and then if she was still refusing treatment it would go before the Ethics Committee. Discussed the fact that Marilyn has a living will but at this point that doesn’t matter!!!!
When I went up in the evening she did not tell me to go away. Marilyn did ask for her trek to be removed. Dee and Chris were still with her when I left.
Floyd was doing good he had his voice box in and it was good to tak to him. He had the voice box in all day today. He had lots of questions about Marilyn and I answered as honest as I could . Floyd thanked me for talking to him and he said that Marilyn’s wishes need to be listened to and granted. Floyd went to the gym yesterday to have some exercises on his legs. His attitude and spirits were good today.

Visited with Marilyn this evening, she seemed much calmer and her breathing was not so labored. She kept her eyes closed most of the time and would nod her head yes or no to answer questions. She did not try to verbalize at all while I was there. Her sister Dee and Chris have been with her most of the day. Larry and Carol, friends from Tx came to visit also.
Floyd said that he feels better today. He did look good and was sitting up watching TV. He sat in the chair some today. His oxygen level was good and he had me check to see what it was before I left.
Visitors are welcomed and encouraged.

I stopped by this evening to check on Marilyn and she was being turned when I got there. She was resting and barely woke while they turned her. I tried to talk to her but she barely responded, she opened her eyes just once and nodded her head when I asked her a question.
Was so glad to see that today Marilyn had several visitors, Dianna, Carol Coppedge, Emma, Pat and Carol Sherman. Thank you all for being there.
I do plan on visiting Floyd tomorrow evening after I visit Marilyn, I am sorry I have not seen him since I beleive Wednesday evening. He did know that I was out of town this weekend.
Marilyn’s sisters Dee and Chris will be in town Monday afternoon and this will be great comfort to Marilyn.

Last night Marilyn was still restless, she kept repeating Mama mama over and over, and Help me Help me. She asked for Al and I told her Al was back in Ca. and she said OK . I rubbed some cream on the legs and hands, her right shoulder is very sore. Her right eye had a lot of matter in it and I cleaned it out as best I could. Dianna was up with Marilyn during the day and she said that she cleaned her eye also.
I did not go and check on Floyd I will try and check on him Sunday evening after I get back.
Thanks to everyone who said they would check on them this weekend.

Tuesday night while visiting Floyd he asked the nurse if he could use his voice box while I was there, she put it in for him and it was soooo good to have a conversation with him. We called Al and surprised him, having his Dad talk to him. He did really well with the voice box, we just had to monitor his levels. He had the voice box in for about 45 minutes. Floyd looked good and said that he felt he was getting stronger.
Tuesday evening Marilyn was somewhat restless and complained her right arm was hurting her. She mouthed that she layed too long on it. She was laying on her back when I got there and asking for pain medicine. I talked to the nurse and she said that she could not give her any untill 10.00pm as she had just given her some. Tried to calm Marilyn down and told her that the medicine would start working soon.
This evening when I visited Marilyn she was VERY restless, calling for Margo and her MOM. She said hold me just hold me. Told me to get the baby and go and told me to sit on the floor. I got the nurse and asked her if her medicine has been changed and she said no. I told her that I had never seen her this restless. The nurse said she was like this of and on all day. I asked the nurse if her dosage had changed and she said no. I asked the nurse if she was getting the same medication that she was getting at St. Francis and she said she was.
Marilyn’s sisters will be here next week and hopefully this will help her.
They really could use some visitors, they have been in hospital settings now for 80+ days and I am sure that it is taking it’s mental toll on both of them. More so Marilyn as about all she can do is stare at the walls. Her frustration level must be VERY high.
I will be out of town this weekend. If you do visit please post on the blog.
Thanks Chris Roberts
