Went to Inola nursing home today to visit Marilyn & Floyd. The nursing home is very nice, clean and seemed like lots of staff, checking on them both a lot.
Marilyn seemed pleased to see me and said HI and smiled, then she told me to go away, I asked her why and she just closed her eyes. Told her I would go and talk to Floyd and she shook her head yes. Went back over to talk to Marilyn and she kept mouthing help me, help me, take me home please. I told her if I could take her home I would but that I couldn’t. She told one of the nurses that she wanted to go home and told another nurse to go away. She seems very frustrated. Her left upper arm was hurting her a lot today. Hung the picture of light houses by her bed and she told me no she didn’t want it there, asked her if I could leave it there for a little while and she said yes. Later I asked her if the picture was OK and she smiled and said yes.
Floyd was sitting up in bed and dozed of and on. He was watching TV. Hung some of their cards up on ribbons for them to see. Ran out of ribbon, so I will have to finish that next time. Hung the Oklahoma needlework Floyd wanted from the house. Floyd when awake was chatting about everything and eager for Floyd Jr. to get there.
Social worker came in and asked them both several questions. If they knew where they were, the date, what was their age, who was President and previous President, they both answered all of them. Floyd wasn’t sure of what day or month it was so I found a calendar and hung it up for him so that he could keep up with that.
I stayed for approx 4 1/2 hours with them, Marilyn went to sleep and they gave Floyd a breathing treatment and he was resting.
Don Ross and Jim and Jane Martin had been to visit them yesterday.

Al and Tanya were married October 6th, 2007 on the beach in Carlsbad (San Diego), CA. It was a beautiful small ceremony. The reception followed with a good time had by all. Al and Tanya have been honeymooning in Acapulco this week and will return to San Diego Tuesday.

I will be back to see them next week for 11 days. I fly in on Wednesday, 10-17-07 and will return to San Diego on Sunday, 10-28-07. This should provide me ample time to be sure they are settled in and their immediate needs are taken care of. My wife, Susan, will be joining me there on Friday night, 10-26-07. It will be her first time to visit them and we both are looking forward to it.
I want to be sure and give a huge family thank you to Jim and Jane Martin for their helping in getting Dad and Mom moved and seeing that they received the items they needed from their house. A HUGE thank you goes out to Chris Roberts. She has been our Tulsa anchor and I know the Lord will take good care of her for all the support, time and effort she has put into to making Dad and Marilyn’s life as good as it can be. We also want to thank everyone that has provided them with visits, support, all the behind the scenes stuff that has been taken care of and the many prayers we know are going out for them daily. It has been great to see how much love and care everyone has shown for them through the last 3 1/2 months.
I will continue to update the blog as I talk to Dad by phone and once I arrive in Tulsa for my visit with them.

Floyd called me today to let me know that Marilyn had arrived at the nursing home, he said that she was sleeping after her long trip from Tulsa.
He needs some things from his house that I will go by and get and take to him on Saturday. He said that everything was fine so that’s good.

Marilyn had just had a bath before I got there this evening, looked like her hair had been washed, and she was sleepy. I told her that Floyd had moved to Inola and she shook her her head that she knew that. I asked her how she felt about moving to Inola and being with Floyd and she shrugged her shoulder. I told her that it will be good to have Floyd there with her as he can talk and watch out for her, she nodded her head yes. She asked me when I was going on vacation, told her Oct 31st. Surprised that she remembered I had mentioned going on vacation.
Not to much wrong with her mind and memory is there…….
Marilyn will move to Inola in the morning per the nurse on duty at the hospital.
Floyd called me this evening as he wanted me to have his telephone number and to let me know that he was doing alright. He said the room was a little small and he wondered how he and Marilyn would fit all their things in there. He said the people seemed nice. He really enjoyed getting into the ambulance, he said it was the first time he had any fresh air in over 3 months. He talked about how bright the sun was.
Floyd’s telephone number is 543-0231 I’m sure that he would love to hear from you.
Will be strange to go home from work tomorrow and not go to St. Francis. I will go to visit at the nursing home on Saturday or Sunday, won’t be able to do evening visits, to far out and gets dark to early. Anyone who knows me knows that I get lost VERY easy and would hate to be putting in SOS calls.

Inola nursing home brought their equipment for Marilyn to use and see if she can adjust to them. If all goes well she will be moved to Inola on Wednesday. Marilyn was very quite this evening not wanting to talk.
Floyd said that he leaves at 1.00pm Tuesday and he is ready to get out of the hospital. Went by the house and got the cord that he needed for his wheelchair, took it to hosp and gave to him to take to Inola. Gathered his pers items and put them in bags for him to take. He is very excited to be leaving SF.

Met with Jim and Jane at the house and they got the things that Floyd needed for the nursing home.
Marilyn seemed a little more alert today, I asked her if she had any visitors and she said no. Asked her if her niece came by and she said that she was there yesterday. She said that she had a headache and nurse brought her in something to help her. Nurse said that the Inola Nursing home would be bringing one of the respitators that they use for Marilyn to try and make sure she is able to use it before she moves there. Nurse thought that they would be bringing it today.
Floyd was doing fine and still excited to be moving out of the hospital. His friend Gary was up visiting him today. Stopped by Walgreens and got a clock and some nail files that he wanted to take to the nursing home. Floyds color is good and he seems to be gaining more strength.

Marilyn was quite again today. Asked her if she has any visitors and she shook her head no. We watched the OU-Texas game. Yea OU WON!!!! Marilyn asked for some orange juice, I went and told the nurse and he said she has been asking for orange juice today but unfortunalely she can’t have any. Told Marilyn that she couldn’t have any and she rolled her eyes. At half time I went to visit Floyd. He was sitting up watching the game and wanted me to clip his finger nails, which I did, he wants some nail files and I told him I would bring some tomorrow for him. He had another list of things that he wants from the house to take to the nursing home. Floyd told me that Marilyn’s niece Nancy and her husband had been to visit today, and that he enjoyed the visit.
When you visit both Marilyn and Floyd you have to wear a gown and gloves, wondering if that will apply when they get to the nursing home. Nurse still did not know when Marilyn will be moving.

Went to visit this evening. Marilyn smiled when I went in and told her I was sorry that I had not been to see her in 5 days due to me being sick. She said that’s OK. She seemed very quite and looks like she has lost some weight. She was feeling like she wanted to be sick and I called the nurse in and they raised her head up and gave her a shot for the nausea. The shot made her very sleepy. Her Phychiatrist came in but he could not wake her enough to talk to her and he said that he would check on her later. Sat with her for about 45 minutes and then went ot visit Floyd. Her nurse did not know for sure when she would be moving to Inola.
Floyd is now off the ventilator and has his voice box in. He said that he was going to Inola nursing home on Tuesday, he seemed excited to be getting out of the hospital. He wanted a TV, his wheel chair, walker and some other things to take to the nursing home. I was able to coordinate with Jim Martin who is going to help get his things to Inola. THANKS JIM. Floyd’s color is good and his spirits are high. He said that Marilyn may be moving there Wed or Thur he thought. Told him that I will be up Saturday to see them both. He told me he would have a list of stuff that he needed from the house ready for me.
Good to be able to see them both again.

Dad and Marilyn are both doing well considering… it appears that they both be transferred to Inola Health Care this coming week and will be in room #29… they will have a phone in their room and we will post the number as soon as we know what that is! Or you can call Inola Health Care (918) 543-6631 and they will give it to you!
