Good news …Marilyn the Doctor and the staff at Inola confirmed via a phone consult that she will be going into the hospital the same time as Dad on the 4th for a surgery on the 5th of December, 2007 and they will completing the surgery needed to give her a better quality of life.

I stopped in yesterday to take dad a watch and see how they were doing…
Both were doing fairly well considering… Dad was roaming the hall in his mobile chair and running the staff crazy as usual…:) and Marilyn was setting in a therapy chair in the visitors lounge… It was nice seeing her up and smiling… she was complaining about her back hurting and they said it was time to put her back in bed and they did so she could get prepared and rested for her speech therapy.
Today we just got word that Dad will be going in for his open Gall Bladder surgery on the 4th and actually having surgery on the 5th of December. He should only be there about 3-4 days as long as all goes well.
Marilyn has recently voiced that she would like to have the corrective surgery she needs so they (Marilyn, Dad the Inola staff and the surgeon) are doing a Dr. Consult tomorrow in hopes to schedule both about the same time. We hope to know more tomorrow regarding the planning of the pending surgery. I will post again once I know any more.

Joe Crain had just made it into town and he and went to Inola & spent a couple of hours with Dad & Marilyn today. When we showed up he was in the room and in his mobile chair and the staff was in the process of getting Marilyn to sleep as she had just gotten settled for the afternoon. Dad was in great spirits and he and Marilyn looked great considering. I was able to get a couple of pics of Dad & Joe and I wil try to get loaded on the site once I have a chance to upload!
I had taken by a couple of personal items and Dad indicated he needed a watch and asked if I could please pick one up before my next visit.
Dad wanted to wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving and wanted to say hello to all!

When I visited Marilyn today she was sitting in a chair out in the foyer. Chris her sister was there along with Barbara and Floyd. Marilyn seemed to be in good spirits. The nursing home staff all came and sang Happy Birthday to her. Marilyn sat up for approx 3 hours before going back to bed. By this time she was really really tired and was having a hard time getting settled back down. Marilyn received lots of birthday cards and her sister read them all to her and then we hung them on the door so she could see them.All in all I think that she had a good day and enjoyed all the attention.
Floyd is doing good and he manages to wheel himself around in his wheel chair. He does not know yet when his gall bladder surgery will be.

Marilyn is Celebrating her 68th birthday today!!!

Marilyn was awake when I visited today and she was able to verbalize some. She is having some stomach problems yesterday and today, and they were giving her some medicine to help her with that. Marilyn kept falling to sleep and the nurse said that she still has her days and nights mixed up, but was getting better and staying awake more during the day.
Floyd seemed to be in good spirits. At 1.00pm the nurses got him in his wheelchair and he went to the lounge to read his newspaper. He said that he likes to do that as he has a hard time trying to read in bed. He said that he has been able to go outside during the week and enjoyed it.
Marilyn has got some birthday cards already and hung them on the door so that she could see them. Her birthday is next Saturday.
Floyd wanted me to mention that Marilyn likes the books on cassette tapes and not CD’s. Marilyn has a cassette deck and has been listening to some of the tapes.
Before I left I went and sat with Floyd for a little while and we talked. He got emotional at times talking about Marilyn and her condition.

Ok folks,
Overall it has been a good week for the both of them. I spent a little over four hours with them yesterday and dad was in good spirits and cutting up with us all! Marilyn slept most of the day but seemed to be doing OK considering. I finally had the pleasure of meeting both Claire and his wife Margo Marilyn’s brother and Sister In law that had flown in from Chicago. We were able to spend some time together and get to know each other and watched a little football with dad! I took Marilyn up some additional gowns two long sleeve and two short to go with the ones that Floyd Jr. had taken up last week!
Today Tanya and I stopped by and took Marilyn the book on CD Dear John (Eight CD’s total). Also, took dad a few DVD’s westerns for him to enjoy when he feels the need. He loves the old westerns so if anyone would like to send some please feel free to do so! I was able to locate Dad’s oxygen tank holder for his scooter and delivered it as well along with a new phone book for him. Along with Tanya and I, Don Ross, Jim & Jane Martin were there along with Claire and Margo. Today they were both doing well overall.
For all visitors I wanted to let you know you can eat in the cafeteria for only $5 and according to Clair and Margo it is pretty darn good food!
Also, for anyone wanting to call their room the number it is 1-918-543-0231 and if you don’t get an answer at first please call right back as the phone has been having some issues.
I’m just now headed back to San Diego for a short business trip so please feel free to call and or stop by as they would love to hear from you!
