Marilyn Visit 1-9-08

Posted in Uncategorized at 10:25 pm by Chris Roberts

Marilyn was alert and awake this evening, we talked for quite a while.  Her temp was normal and they did a blood sugar test while I was there and nurse said it was good.  I asked her if she new when she would be going back to Inola and she shook her head no.  They don’t have the Inola ventilator in there as of yet, so I imagine it will be a couple of more days at least.

Called Floyd and told him that Marilyn was awake this evening and that we talked for a while.  He said that he has been running a fever of around 101 and was taking some medication  to bring it down.

Marilyn was sleeping when I visited and I tried to wake her, she opened her eyes and smiled and back of to sleep.  Nurse came in to check her temp and tried to wake her but Marilyn did not want to wake up.  Nurse said that they did not give her any medicine this afternoon as she has been sleeping so much.  Temp was normal and nurse said all her vitals were good.

Called Floyd and let him know that I did visit Marilyn and gave him the info the nurse gave me.  He said that he was feeling much better than he had in the a. m.  He said that he did not get out of bed today and wishes that he could start feeling better all day.  He said that he would like to be able to dress himself and get out of bed by himself, told him to keep working on the therapy and he will get there.

Marilyn & Floyd Update…

Posted in Uncategorized at 4:44 pm by Al Rosson

I callled the nurses station this morning and check on Marilyn and she was doing well considering. I ask that the Doctors please call and I did recieved a call from both Doctor Kennedy and Doctor Pitcock they both indicated that Marilyn was doing well and that she would most likely be there through the end of the week.

I then called Dad and let him know the results and to check on him. He was glad to know that Marilyn was doing well but was not felling well himself.

I seemed to have caught the OK winter bug and have been on chicken soup and rest the last couple of days…Hope to get back up to the Hospital and St’ Francis before I leave for San Diego this weekend.

Thanks again for your continued support and prayers!

Marilyn Visit 1-7-08

Marilyn was sleeping when I went in this evening, I called her name and she opened her eyes and smiled.  She was really having a difficult time keeping her eyes opened, I told her it was OK and that I would sit with her for a while.

Nurse said that she has been doing good, responding to meds.  Nurse said that several times today Marilyn asked her to cover her feet and to take her jacket off.  I asked the nurse if they had changed her meds and she said that she is getting the same as at the nursing home.

Marilyn’s bloating seems to have gone down even more from yesterday.  She never did wake back up so I left around 7.00pm.

Called Floyd and told him that I did check on Marilyn.  He said that he is doing pretty good.

Marilyn was getting a breathing treatment when I went in this morning.  Her color was good and nurse said that her fever was gone and that she was responding well to her treatment.  They checked her temp again and it was still normal.  She did not seem as bloated as she was yesterday.  We talked on and off, switched TV channels till we found a station that she wanted to watch.  She kept falling of to sleep so around 1.30 I left.  Will check on her tomorrow evening after work.

Will call Floyd and give him an update also.

Floyd & Marilyn Update…

Posted in Uncategorized at 10:52 am by Al Rosson

The update on the two of them is not very good today…

Marilyn went to the emergency room last night at about 8:30 with a case of pneumonia and has since been admitted to the 3rd floor ICU Room 3405 in St. Francis. She had a fever of around a 101 last night and according to her nurse this morning she has no fever so that means the antibiotics they are giving her are starting to work. All vitals are stable and she appears to be on the recovery side of pneumonia. They are not sure at this time when she will be released but expect her to be there a couple of days for further evaluation.

Dad is running a slight fever as well this morning and does not feel well.

Thanks again for all your support and prayers!

Marilyn & Floyd Visit 1-5-08

Floyd was up and about today when I got there, he was doing pretty good.  He said that he really doesn’t feel very well, he said that he had hoped after having his gall bladder out that he would be feeling better.  They have removed his catheter and he is glad about that, he is hoping that this will help clear up his infection.

Marilyn was awake some of the time.  The nurse put her voice box on but she was having a difficult time trying to talk. She was only able to get a word out now and again, she said that it was too hard to do.  After about 45 minutes the nurse took the voice box off.  A friend Teresa came up and she got to get Marilyn and Floyd to laugh quite a bit. Marilyn seemed a little tired and told me that she wanted to get some sleep.  I asked her if she wanted us to leave and she nodded yes.  We sat and talked with Floyd for a while and left.

Took Floyd up his supplies that he needed, photo albums, address book, batteries, magnifying glass etc.  We put the photos that were around the room in the books, and did this so Marilyn could see what was going on.

While I was writing this Floyd called to say that Marilyn was being taken to St. Francis Hospital as she was running a fever.  Floyd asked me to call Al and let him know which I did.

Floyd & Marilyn Update…

Posted in Uncategorized at 12:50 pm by Al Rosson

I stopped in to check on Dad & Marilyn…

Dad was just getting back in bed after being up in his Z-chair. His fever was almost normal and he looked good considering. His catheter was just removed the day before and his body does seen to be adjusting well so far. I had the nursing staff checking to see about getting his feeding tube replaced because of the possible leak. Dana the head nurse did make some calls into St. Francis and left messages for the Doctor. Dana had suggested getting him some anti-bacterial hand gel to help offset any possible infections now that his catheter has been removed. So I was able to go to the store and picked up some Gel and Head and Shoulders shampoo for him.

Marilyn was resting and the staff was just coming in to give her a bath so I ran to the store for Dad while that was occurring. When she returned from her bath she was very relaxed and seemed to be in good spirits. She did let me know that she would like to get up in the therapy chair more regularly. So I immediately notified the staff and they are supposed to start that beginning tomorrow morning as it was about 4:30 p.m. and the staff that was experienced and able to move her was already gone for the day!

Dad’s fever started rising again before I left and the nurse was in giving them both their appropriate meds for the evening.

I made sure before I left that they were both comfortable and settled for the evening.

Thanks again for all your prayers and continued support!

Marilyn & Floyd Visit 12-29-07

Floyd was in bed when I visited, he said that he just didn’t feel like getting up today. He said that he didn’t feel 100% today.

Marilyn was awake and nurse came and put her voice box on and she was able to vocalize some.   Nurse said that they are trying to get her to speak more.  Marilyn was watching her TV when I went in, she stayed awake the whole time I was there and she was in a good mood.

It was a good visit today.
