Marilyn Visit 3-17-08

Posted in Floyd & Marilyn at 12:02 am by Chris Roberts

Visited Marilyn this evening, she seemed really flushed and felt warm, asked her if she was feeling alright and she nodded yes.  Nurse came in and took her temp it was 96, asked her if Marilyn had been feeling well?  Nurse said that she had a slight temp earlier in the day and they had given her some medicine to help bring it down.

Read her mail to her, she received 3 cards.  Noticed that her calendar had not been changed since I was up there on the 13th. Told Marilyn that she should ask the nurse to change it for her every day, she nodded that she would.

Asked Marilyn if she remembered that her family would be in tomorrow and she mouthed tomorrow? told her that Claire, Margo, Dee and Chris would all be here tomorrow and she said good and smiled.

Noticed that Marilyn had visitors from Iowa over the weekend she said it was a nice surprise.

She was having a hard time staying awake so I left around 7.15pm.

Went to visit Marilyn this evening, she was very agitated and restless when I went in, she said she needed some pain medicine.  Nurses Aide came in and she said that she would check with the nurse. Nurse came in and said that she just gave her some pain meds about 5 min ago.

Noticed that her calendar was not changed so I did that and went to put it back and Marilyn kept saying NO NO, she did not want the calendar back in the same place, she wanted it over by the mirror.

I went to sit down on the chair and pulled it over by her bed and she again said NO NO, she wanted me to sit down but not to move the chair near her machine.

Read her mail that had come in.

Told her that it won’t be long before Claire, Margot, Dee and Chris would all be here to see her, she said she is looking forward to them coming.   You could hear her verbalize quite well this evening.

She kept falling to sleep, the medicine I guess started working, I told her I would let her rest and she nodded her head yes.

Marilyn Visit 3-11-08

Went up to visit Marilyn after work this evening, she was sleeping when I got there.  I called out her name and she woke up with a big smile.  We visited for quite a while and I could hear her verbalize sometimes.

I put cream on her face, hands and legs, as they were pretty dry.  Marilyn then asked for her glasses to be put on, after finally finding them she wore them for a little while and said the tv was too blurry with them on.  I went to put them back in the closet and she said that she wanted them left on the bed, after much discussion I convinced her that I should put them back and she finally agreed.

There was 2 cards and a letter that I opened and read to her.

We had a good visit this evening, told her that I would try and get up on Thursday evening after work as I had some things to do this weekend.

Went to visit Marilyn after work Friday evening, she was awake and watching television when I went in.  She said HI and I heard her verbalize.  Through out the time I was there I was able to hear her talke on and off.

There was some cards there and read them to her and hung the cards up.

It was snowing pretty heavy when I got to Inola and Marilyn’s blinds were open so she could see it, she said that it was so pretty.

I noticed that her skin looked a lot better, not so dry.  Asked her if they had put cream on her and she said that she had a bath today and the put a lot of cream on her.

It was a good visit.

Went out to visit Marilyn yesterday afternoon and she was a little restless. Her blood pressure was a little low according to Stephanie. Annette her daytime nurse was just going off and Stephanie her 3-11 nurse was just coming on.

We tried to get her comfortable the two plus hours I was there so she could rest and they finally had to give some pain reliever to comfort her. She kept saying that she wanted to get up and go to a different chair I had to remind her that she was in the same room and same air mattress bed that she had been in since Dad passed. She said that she was not sure of that but finally said ok once I pointed out that several things where proof like room # and view etc.

I took the stereo back to her that Robin Campbell-Nalley from Remax was so nice to have bought for her and dad. She had asked me to take it to the house along with the other little TV that she had used. Then last week she decided that she wanted it along with her CD’s so I brought them both. I was able to run down the Optometrist that her and dad had gone to prior to the accident and ordered her some new glasses. They were ready Friday so I went and picked them up and took them to her. She was pleased to see them but did not want to wear them for more than about 5 minutes. I left them in the upper cabinet in the right hand corner. She seemed to get a little irritated with me when I asked her where she wanted me to put them she kept saying her purse and I had to remind her that she did not have a purse there. That it was in the Safety Deposit Box.

I let her know that I was leaving this coming Tuesday and that a lot of her Family to include Dad’s would be coming in to see her the next weekend. She seemed very pleased to know that and was looking forward to it. I also let her know that I had been by to check on the house and Donna’s progress for arranging their Estate Sale and that she was doing a great job.

Once we did get her calmed down and little more relaxed we talked about the room situation again. That was when she informed us that she did not sleep very well the night before due to noise from accross the hall. Stephanie reminded her how fortunate she was to have a private room so that she did not have to put up with all that noise more frequently and she agreed and them seemed to get even more calm. We told her since she had very little sleep the night before that was probably part of the reason for her anxiety and being restless and she then agreed and seemed to be more at peace.

Thanks again for your continued prayers and support!

Chris Roberts & I went out last evening to visit Marilyn.

She seemed to really be sleeping very peacefully when we arrived. It took the two of us a while to awaken her. Once we did it seemed that she kept dozing in and out through our two hour visit. We asked that her nurse Stephanie please put her on her speaking valve so that visit and communicate more effectively. We had several things to discuss like her glasses that I had just ordered and the upcoming Rosson Family Estate Sale.

The Rosson Estate Sale will be the week of March 24th and their will be a Family & Friends Pre-Sale from 3-6 p.m. on Wednesday the 26th. Followed by the Rosson Formal Estate Sale on the 27th, 28th & 29th from 9am to 6pm. So please pass the word as all items are to be sold New Furniture, TV’s, Thomas Kinkade Villages, China Clothing Etc. If you need any additional infomation please give me a call at 619-993-0055.

We spent a little over two hours with her taking care of the Estate Sale arrangements and making sure that the Staff was addressing her needs. When we went to leave she indicated that she wanted to know where we were and that she wanted to go with us. We informed her that it was not possible for her to go with us because she needed full time care. Once she was able to understand she was ok. She said that she was not in any pain but that she just wanted to go home .

We made sure that her food drip was replaced and that her Trachea tube was sunctioned as needed!

Once we got her settled and comfortable we took off.

Thanks again for your continued prayers & support!

Good News the facility is NO Longer on Lock-down…It appears the facility is free of the stomach flu that was running through the facility the past couple of weeks.

I spent most of yesterday afternoon with Marilyn after visiting Dad’s niche at the Mausoleum at Floral Haven located at approximately 68th and 129th East Ave. Thanks to the fact that his name plate is now in place I was able to determine the exact location of their niche. It is on the North East Corner of the West Exterior of the Mausoleum about shoulder height and right beside the doors. Ron & Linda your flowers were displayed nicely thanks for that.

I actually took photos to show Marilyn so she could see the location and in hopes of comforting her. She indicated that she still sees him frequently. I mentioned to her that I’m sure he is checking on her from time to time to make sure she is ok and she in turn smiled. Marilyn was having a good day considering her temperature was normal and she was not in any pain. I stayed until a little after 5 and it was time for them to turn her and they wanted to know if I wanted them to turn her then or wait and I told them to please do it as scheduled as to not interrupt her care.

Thank you for your continued prayers and support!

Marilyn Visit 3-1-08

Called Inola Nursing Center today to check to see if I could visit Marilyn, they said that it was fine to come up as most of the residents were over the flu.

Marilyn was sleeping when I went in, sat for a while until she woke up.  When she woke I read her mail to her, she had received a card and a letter.  Sometimes you could hear her verbalize her words today.  I noticed that her bed was raised up higher so she wasn’t laying down so flat.  I don’t know if that helped her to be able to talk more.

Rev. Doyle Crain had been up to visit her today.

Her skin seemed very dry, I asked her if she would let me put some cream on her arms and face, she agreed.  Her face had some really dry patches on it.  Before I left I put some more cream on her face and arms.

Marilyn said that she had a headache and the nurse gave her some medicine, a little later she was given a breathing treatment, Marilyn said that the breathing treatments have been giving her headaches also.

The TV was not on in her room and I asked if she wanted me to turn it on before I left and she said no she just wanted to sleep.
