Marilyn visit 7-29-08

Posted in Uncategorized at 10:02 pm by Chris Roberts

Marilyn was very quite and subdued this evening, asked her if she was tired and she nodded her head.  She asked me what was wrong with my eye, told her I had a small blood vessel pop.  Her bottom lip kept quivering as if she was going to cry I asked her if everything was OK and she said I guess so, and closed her eyes.

Her nurse came in to give her a breathing treatment and said that she was glad she had company.  Nurse checked Marilyn’s heel and said the sore on her right  foot is almost healed up.  Nurse said to see if I could get Marilyn to watch another TV channel, the one she was watching had some horror shows on it and she didn’t think that was good for her to be watching. I tired to talk Marilyn into watching another channel, but she wouldn’t hear of it, at one point I thought she was going to cry.  Told her that I would leave it as it was. I stayed until about 7.45 and asked Marilyn if she wanted to rest and she nodded her head yes, told her that I would be up later this week to see her.

I talked to the nurse when I left and said I was glad to see Marilyn calmed down this evening, she said she has not been all day.  She said she thinks she has shoes on and wants scissors to cut the tubing of her.  Nurse said Marilyn asked her how long was she going to be hooked up and nurse said I told her the truth.

Marilyn visit and status update!

Posted in Uncategorized at 2:55 pm by Al Rosson

I went to visit Marilyn this morning. She seemed to be at peace with everything and indicated that she had gotten some good rest.

Last visit I had promised her that I would bring her a Sonic tooth brush and made sure that she new I had indeed remembered it and was setting it up for her. I set it up there by her sink with a brand new pink head. She seemed pleased that I had brought her a Sonic tooth brush and then she asked about Tanya and I told her that we had been to the doctors a lot over the past few weeks and that unfortunately it appeared that she would have to start dialysis or at least it appeared that we were headed in that direction.

I then I showed her the bag of treats that I had for the nurses and she again smiled. Of course the nurses where delighted to see the chocolate and the mints. I told her that the reason I always bring them little gifts was to show the families appreciation and in hopes that she might get a little better attention and care.

I stayed and watched a movie with her and then when it was over left shortly there after.

Thanks again for every ones continued prayers and support!

Marilyn Visit 8-26-08

Visited Marilyn today.  As soon as I went on she asked for scissors, I asked her what for she said to cut away this plastic, I told her there was no plastic around her other than her tubing from her ventilator.  She got very upset and said she has asked for scissors and no one will give her any, she said I just want to cut something. She said she felt she was tied down, I assured her that she wasn’t tied down.  Marilyn said the left side of her neck was bothering her and asked me to get the strings out of the way.  I rubbed her neck for a little while and she said it felt better, I got a little piece of gauze to put under the band on her neck and she said it felt better.  She asked for her right arm and shoulder to be rubbed.  Marilyn then asked to get her shoes off, I told her she was not wearing any, she would not believe me and said the laces were to tight.  Her nurse Mandy (believe that was her name) came in and told Marilyn that she was not tied down, she told her she has asked several times today for scissors and she could not have any.  Marilyn asked her to take her shoes off and she told her she didn’t have any on.  When she left Marilyn said she lies all the time I do have shoes on, take them off for me.

Marilyn then said she could use a big stiff drink right now, asked her what kind she wanted and she said a Margarita sounded good.  We laughed for a while over that one.  She asked me to take the coins out of her hands and take them to the front desk, I tried to tell her she had no coins in her hand, she got frustrated and I motioned that I took them out of her hand and told her I would take care of them later.  She then told me I was getting some grey in my hair, I agreed with her on that one, told her she put a few in there and she laughed and said oh bull.

Aide cane in to change out her bottle of food and I  told Marilyn what she was doing, she asked how many calories was in the bottle, aide told her 1200, Marilyn said that is to much to have.  I explained that was for the whole day, and she was OK with that.

Marilyn finally did settle down and we were watching the movie Monster in Law, she said she liked this movie.  I told her that she needed to try and rest some, she told me she slept good last night.

Jim and Jane Martin, Barbara and her daughter had been to visit Marilyn today.

When I told her bye this evening I told her to try and get some rest and she said yes mother and smiled.

Tanya Status Update…

Posted in Uncategorized at 10:06 pm by Al Rosson

Tanya received a call from her Mayo Clinic Doctor late yesterday. The Biopsy that had been sent up for further evaluation from Tulsa turned out to indicate that she has a very rare Kidney Disease known as Medullary Cystic Kidney Disease. Based on that Mayo has decided that there is no further need for any future genetic testing.

Unfortunately the past 10 days Tanya has not been feeling well at all. Based on that she feels like she needs to proceed with the fistula surgery as it has a long recovery time, and it can be as much as 6-8 weeks.

This would then allow her to have dialysis until the hospital and doctors are ready to perform the transplant.

Thanks again for your continued prayers and support!

Marilyn Visit 7-22-08

Marilyn was awake when I went in this evening.  When she saw me she said it’s about time you got here, told her I got off at 5.00 and headed straight to see he.  I asked her what was wrong and she said get me out of here.  I asked her what has happened and she said I want to go home to my own bed. She then said get of the chair, put it back and go get the other chair and put me in it.  I told her I could not get her in a chair by myself, she told me to go across the street and get some of the men to help. Several times I tried to change the subject. At one point she started to cry and said help me get to my own bed.  After some time she did seem to calm down and told me that Jim and Jane were here to visit and Jr. and Susan came to see her.

I finally got to sit back in the chair by her bed and then she said tell that woman to go away, I asked her what woman she said the one at the end of this bed.  I got up and showed her I was the only one at the end of the bed, she wouldn’t have it, finally I turned and asked the woman to go away.  Marilyn said good she is gone.  I don’t know what she was seeing, if it was a reflection from the sun coming thru the window or what.

Marilyn asked me when Richard would be here, (Richard is her nephew), I told her in about 15 days or so, she said OK.  Talked to her about some of the SWBT girls I had seen this weekend and got her caught up with what has been going on with them.

Marilyn then said I am tired of being like this. I told her I could only imagine, she said I have been like this since the wreck.  I asked her if she wanted to talk about the wreck and she said yes.  We talked briefly about the accident, and discussed the length of time she was in the hospital.  ICU and Rehab.

Marilyn was coughing quite a bit this evening, when I was getting ready to leave she asked me to get the nurse as she needed to be suctioned.  As I  was leaving I told her bye and she did not answer me, again I said bye Marilyn I will be back up in a couple of days and she closed her eyes and said get the nurse.  I guess she was mad that I didn’t get help to get her out of there.

It has been quite a while since I have seen Marilyn this disoriented.

Aunt Jenny

Posted in Uncategorized at 6:55 pm by Ron Rosson

Aunt Jenny has been moved to a private room.  Alan and Floyd Jr. have the #’s and location for those  in the Tulsa area who might want to send flowers.  The Dr’s are saying that she is slowly improving, but she is very weak.  Typical of Aunt Jenny’s love for her family, one of her first requests was that she be kept informed about Marylins condition.  This is a precious and wonderful women who’s first concerns are always her family and friends.  She is the matriach of the Rosson/Brown family.  She deserves our prayers and our love.

Posted in Uncategorized at 1:01 pm by Floyd Rosson Jr.

Susan and I are out in Inola visiting Marilyn again today. It will be our last visit before returning back to San Diego this afternoon.
Marilyn is doing well today. We have been able to talk with her and she is able to verbalize her thoughts and questions clearly. It is always a nice visit when she can speak.
I will post any important information if needed and will certainly post my visits in late August.
If anyone ever needs to reach me personally please don’t hesitate to call me on my mobile at 619-994-7616 or email me at FirstName@FirstNameLastName.com (It is actually my name…I reflected it this way to thwart the spam web surfers looking for emails)
Your thoughts and prayers are very appreciated.
With Love,
Floyd Jr. & Susan

Floyd & Susan Visit Marilyn

Posted in Uncategorized at 9:40 pm by Floyd Rosson Jr.

Susan and I were out visiting Marilyn last Thursday and again today. Last Thursday we ran into her sister Dee. Dee had gotten to town right in behind Margo and Claire on their visit. My mother, Helen, went with us today too. Chris has steadily been up to see her and Doyle and Violet stopped by yesterday. WOW…Marilyn has had a lot of visitors in the last 10 days. It has been great to see her and to see she has so many people that love her and still help brighten her days by visiting her.

Marilyn has been pretty tired both times we have been up to see her. Today we were only able to awaken her for a few minutes. The nurse told us she had been sleeping most of the day and it was related to simple fatigue. She hadn’t been sedated with pain pills; she was simply very tired today.

We will be visiting her again Tuesday before we catch our flight back to San Diego. I will be back August 21st through August 31st to help my mother (Helen) while she recovers from her knee replacement surgery scheduled for August 20th. I will be stopping in to visit with Marilyn and will keep everyone posted through the blog.

Thanks for everyone’s visits, prayers and support. It is great knowing so many people care. We know Marilyn feels the love.

Marilyn Visit 7-18-08

Went by to visit Marilyn this evening, I had not been by for a few days as she has had her family visiting her.  Her sister Dee is there thru tomorrow with her.

Nurse met me as I went in this evening and she said Marilyn will be very sleepy this evening, as she was sleepy most of the day.  Nurse said that she had a bath today and that always wears her out.  Marilyn was awake when I went in, she was able to verbalize some.   She said that she enjoyed Claire and margot being with her.  Floyd Jr. and Susan also visited her this week.  We chatted for a while and she asked when I was going on vacation, I told her and she asked me to write it on the calendar.  She wanted the date I was leaving and returning.  She kept falling to sleep, I asked her if she wanted me to leave so she could rest and she said no.  Around 8.00pm nurses came in to turn her and I asked her if I could leave and she said I could.
