Chris Roberts Visit - 8/23/07 PM
Was up this evening to visit, Marilyn is very depressed, in fact worst I have seen her. Dr. came in while I was there and said that they will not be performing the surgery today, as it just got too busy for him. He said that they would do it tomorrow. He explained to Marilyn that it may help her with her breathing if they get the fluid off. Marilyn would not acknowledge him at all, I asked her if she understood what the Dr had said and she nodded yes and closed her eyes. The Dr. left and approx 10minutes later he came back and said that he talked to her nurse and she had indicated that Marilyn did not want the procedure done. He told her that he could not force her to have it done but that he would be doing her an injustice if he did not try everything. She looked at him and closed her eyes.
After he left I asked Marilyn if she was having a bad day and she nodded yes. Asked her if she was in pain and she nodded no. I said just having the blahs and she nodded yes and her eyes filled up with tears.
Told her that Floyd was across the hall and she nodded yes that she knew that, she smiled. Hung her Trojans pennant that I brought and asked her where I put it was that OK and she smiled closed her eyes.
Went across to see Floyd and he looked alert and was watching TV, he was clutching the TV controls. He wanted some ice and got the nurse she told him that he was not able to have ice tonight, maybe tomorrow. She gave him a swab to put round his mouth and he was OK with that. This was the best that I had seen your Dad look in a while.
Went back to Marilyn’s room (so nice to have them so close) and told her that Floyd looks so much better and she smiled.
Not once did Marilyn try to verbalize tonight she is just really sad. Hate to see her like this. I asked her was there anything I could do to help and she shook her head no.
Noticed her nails and mentioned that they looked really pretty and glad that Carol was able to arrange that for her and she closed her eyes. I asked her if she wanted me to leave and let her get some rest and she nodded no, stood by the bed and small talked to her. Nurse came in and gave her some medicine and in a short time she was really sleeping.

Please give Marilyn a big hug for me. She & I played Bingo together, at the Big Bingo Hall, in South Texas. She is a delight to be around & such a wonderful friend. I am sure Helen Lynn really misses her. They went out together alot. Just want her to know my THOUGHTS & PRAYERS ARE WITH HER & FLOYD, & will stay in touch. This Web site is wonderful way for far away friends to know how they are doing. Thanks for that. Ann

Thank you, Chris, for being Marilyn’s friend and being there to help her and Floyd. Give Marilyn a hug for me and tell her that I think of her and Floyd daily. Thanks to everyone for posting their progress on this website. It is a good way for those of us who are far away to stay in touch with their progress. Fran Henderson, cousin
