Floyd & Marilyn Update
Floyds Nurse today was Bret. Floyd’s vital signs are good and he is resting. He did have to have Ativin for pain and anxiety. His heart rate has been stable for the last few days. They are monitoring/testing for heart problems. The good news is that the fluid draining from his left side has subsided to the point that all tubes, etc. have been removed. They now have the site covered with gauze. He sat up for an hour, but still has pain in the abdominal area. However, his lungs are still showing infection/ congestion and he only maintained about twenty minutes on his “weaning” from ventilation. He is alert and communicative (not verbally) while not medicated. He is frustrated and anxious. Still very ill, with infection and strength of heart remaining the primary concern. There are no procedures or tests other than lung cultures and x-rays presently scheduled.
Marilyns Nurse today was Crystal. Marilyn is “not too bad” today. She did have to have medication for pain three times during the last night and morning. Her vital signs are good and she sat up for about an hour. Lungs are still congested and she has had them surgically drained. Physical therapy is leaving her in pain and very tired. She is showing signs of some feeling in her left side and involuntary movement of her right arm (staff said do not read anything into the involuntary movement of the right arm). Her other injuries are healing. She is alert and in reasonable spirits, but does get depressed and asks frequently about her family. There are presently no procedures are tests scheduled.
Both are receiving excellent care, but we ask that any visitors be alert for overall condition and to be aware of the instructions for staff on the “chalk board” above their beds. Sometimes all of the many medical technicians required for their care do not see these instructions through all the medical equipment attached to them and their beds.
Thank you for your concern and support.
